GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - All five suspects accused of a robbery and rape at a Grand Rapids home are now in custody.

The final suspect, James Hodges Jr., 19, surrendered to police Friday afternoon.

Three other adult suspects were arraigned Friday at 61st District Court in Grand Rapids.

Detectives say Hodges, Dorian Jones, 20, Brandon Towns, 25, Rederick Melton, 20, and an unidentified 14 year old boy are accused of invading a house on Veto Street early Monday morning and beating, tying up and robbing a half dozen men. Investigators say the suspects also forced the only woman in the house into another room and sexually assaulted her -- one after the other.

Relatives of the suspects say the charges are unbelievable.

"It's crazy," says Joyce Streets, sister-in-law of Brandon Towns. "It's not his character. He is always happy, always fun and outgoing. He does stuff for people when they need it. He's very loving and generous. I can't see Brandon hurting somebody like that."

Police say the suspects attended a party in the residence earlier in the evening. After everyone was asleep investigators say they returned for the robbery.

Occupants of the house say two cell phones, a television, a computer and a wallet were stolen.

Because several of the suspects have previous felony convictions and the rape charge is a capital crime, some could be facing life in prison.

"He is innocent right now until proven guilty," says Alice Johnson, Rederick Melton's grandmother. "I pray he will find Jesus Christ if he did something like this. I have daughters and I wouldn't want anything like this to happen to my daughter."

To protect what she called the "safety of the community", District Court Judge Jeanine LaVille denied bond for the suspects she arraigned Friday. They must stay in jail while waiting for trial.
