Accident stops I-96 traffic near Portland

UPDATE - 4:00PM - The crash has been cleared and traffic is starting to move again through this area.

EAGLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- A two-car accident has stopped eastbound traffic on I-96 in Clinton County.

The accident happened around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday on the eastbound side of the freeway near Exit 84 to Grange Rd. in Eagle Township, eight miles east of Portland.

WZZM 13's Candace Fleszar-Smith says at least one car has rolled over in the accident.

Eastbound traffic is being stopped because of the accident, and westbound traffic is slowing down as people try to look at the scene.

Michigan State Police is responding to the accident.
