(WZZM) - Here's Kal's recipe for her famed "Granny Cake."

  • 1 ½ cups White Sugar
  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1 can (15 oz.) Crushed Pineapple (juice and all)

Preheat oven to 350 and bake for 45 minutes in a 9x13 greased and floured pan

Mix dry ingredients together with a wooden spoon. Add the eggs and pineapple and stir till mixed well.

Pour into a greased and floured pan.

Sprinkle on top:

¾ cup Brown Sugar

1 cup Chopped Nuts

Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.

15 minutes before the cake is done, mix in a saucepan:

½ cup White Sugar

1 stick Butter or Margarine

1 cup Evaporated Milk

Bring to a boil remove from heat and add: 1 teaspoon Vanilla

Let the cake sit for 5 minutes after taking it out of the oven and then pour the mixture over the hot cake slowly. It will all soak into the cake.

Serve either warm or cooled. Best with whipped cream, cool whip or served with ice cream.

P.S. When I recently make this cake, I put a 20oz. can of pineapple in without thinking but then had to adjust the baking time for another 10-15 minutes,  till it tested done with a toothpick. It still turned out good!
