GRANDS RAPIDS, (WZZM) - A woman in a wheelchair was hit as she was crossing a street in Grand Rapids Saturday afternoon. The woman was hit crossing Ball Avenue near Leonard Street around 4:30 p.m.
The woman uses the motorized wheelchair to get around because she has multiple sclerosis.
Police say no alcohol was involved in the crash. They say the crash probably occurred because the driver was not paying attention to the road. Police also say the driver did not have a driver's license.
We will not learn the name of the driver, or the reason he did not have a license, until he is formally charged.
The woman was taken to the hospital, but did not suffer serious injuries
