(WZZM) - We're keeping a close eye on the slippery road conditions for your morning commute, especially as we see changes in temperatures and snowfall.
Snowplows and salt truck working to keep the roads safe. Jerry Byrne of the Kent County Road Commission tells us, they're more dangerous than they look. "What I've seen in the last hour or two on the roads is speeds probably faster than what they should be driving...the conditions are for 10-20 mph below the posted speed limit."
The Kent County Road Commission is also monitoring the temperatures. If it gets too cold for salt to work, they have to alter their approach to making the roads safe. "The night crews were able to catch up, get some of the snow scraped off the road, put some chemical down that you're starting to see work."
