GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- WZZM and Meijer are pleased to recognize Reeths-Puffer senior Sarah Ferenz as our Meijer Scholar Athlete of the Week for the week of May 6th.

Sarah serves as captain for the Rockets' softball team and is in her third year on the school's varsity squad. She plays first base and shortstop and is putting up excellent numbers. Through 18 games her batting average is .356 with six extra-base hits including a home run. The Rockets are currently 14-4 and recently captured the city tournament championship for the first time since 2007.

Sarah was all-district, all-conference, all-area and academic all-state as a junior in 2012. She plans to play softball at Muskegon Community College next year.

An excellent student, Sarah has a 3.76 grade point average and is vice president of Reeths-Puffers' National Honor Society chapter. She tells WZZM she has been involved with choir and theatre throughout high school and would like to be a teacher and softball coach after college.

WZZM and Meijer congratulate Sarah Ferenz for her achievements and wish her continued success!
