(WZZM)--Because of the family it's in, poison ivy gives off great colors in the fall.

Often you can get red, yellow and orange all on the same plant.

While it looks beautiful, you certainly don't want to touch it. Using long-handled lopping shears, you want to cut the plant at the base. After it's cut you'll want to use something like a Stump and Vine Killer or a Brush Killer. You'll want to apply it directly on to the cut, or the fresh wound. This will allow the killer to penetrate to the roots to properly make sure the Poison Ivy doesn't return.

How do you know it's poison ivy? Rick says remember this saying, "leaves of three, let it be."
