Spartan Stores is now SpartanNash
BYRON CENTER, Mich. (WZZM) -- Good news for workers at SpartanNash, who may have been nervous about the company's recent merger with Nash Finch of Minnesota.
The company is not leaving Byron Township, contrary to speculation from other local media sources.
Wednesday, The Right Place, along with The Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Byron Township announced the approval of $2.75 million in incentives to SpartanNash. The incentive package will ensure the retention of 620 existing jobs and the creation of 72 new jobs.
The incentives to keep Spartan in West Michigan have been worked on for months following pressure from Nash Finch to move the new headquarters to Minnesota. Birgit Klohs, President and CEO of The Right Place said keeping the corporate headquarters here is critical to our regions long term economic growth.
