GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- There are greeting cards for events ranging from birthdays to baby showers, but what kind of card do you give someone who is terminally ill? There is a Made in Michigan card company that is making sunny cards for rainy days.

"Whatever you need, whenever you need it, count on me to take care of you," says Paul Storm, owner of Luap Ink. It's a company that makes Kare'n Cards, which specializes in cards for those in crisis, those recovering from cancer, and even cards for people who maybe suicidal.

"What I am being told by people is that my cards speak when you can't," explains Storm. "Our target is to inspire people who are going through rainy days... the people that life is dealing cancer to, alzheimer's, you name it."

You can look on the back of any of his greeting cards to find the reason why he started the company-- his mother.

"My own mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer and when I looked around at the greeting cards available, I wanted to say so much more than what they said," says Storm.

Paul writes every card and finds his inspiration during car rides. He keeps a note pad and a voice recorder handy just in case, but keeps these three things in mind for every card he writes.

"People want to know that they are not alone, they want to know that they are loved, and they want to know that they will never be forgotten," says Storm.

The cards are written in Grand Rapids. "And our printing is here-- our distribution, everything is here is from good old Grand Rapids, Michigan."

You can buy Kare'n Cards at some area hospitals or online at luapink.com.
