Charges filed in near-death of drunk Ferris student

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) - A 23-year-old Saginaw man attending Ferris State University is being charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor after another student was found passed out in a snow bank.

Robert Calangelo turned himself in to police on Mecosta County charges and posted bond.  He is expected to be arraigned on April 18.

Nicholas Suttles of Grand Rapids was found unconscious in a snow-covered ditch in the early morning hours of February 15.  He was believed to be dead, but emergency crews were able to revive him and get him to the hospital. 

Suttles was released from Spectrum Butterworth Hospital on March 28th.
