Driver identified in deadly Zeeland crash

OTTAWA COUNTY (WZZM)- Two accidents shut down a busy road in Ottawa County Tuesday morning and one of those accidents was deadly.

The first happened just after 1 a.m. on the Business I-196 Loop and State Street in Zeeland. Police say a northbound Pontiac Firebird failed to stop at a flashing red signal. It collided with an eastbound Chevy Blazer driven by a West Olive woman. 

The driver of the Firebird, Steven D'Ottavio, 19, of Brewster, New York was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, Andrew Holbrook, 19, of Hopewell Junction, New York was  in flown to Spectrum Health with life-threatening injuries. 

The driver of the Blazer, Elizabeth Lubben, 23, of West Olive woman was treated at Holland Community Hospital.

A second crash happened around 4 a.m. on the Business I-196 Loop and 104th Avenue, less than one mile away from the first accident.

Police found a two-car accident and a chemical spill of some kind on the road.  The condition of the drivers is not known at this time. Crews were able to contain the spill and clear the scene.
