PORT SHELDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- One woman was injured in the collision of tow boats Sunday on Lake Michigan.

It happened around 6 p.m. south of the Port Sheldon pier.

Deputies say a 36-foot powerboat had a mechanical issue on the water.  The operator turned around to look at his engine and when he turned back, he saw he was heading toward an 17-foot boat that was anchored.

The larger boat, because of its mechanical problems, could not turn away and struck the smaller boat.

A Grand Haven woman, who was a passenger in the smaller boat, was thrown from the craft an suffered a head injury.  she was taken to North Ottawa Community Hospital, where she was reportedly in good condition.

No one else was injured in the accident.

Ottawa County deputies are still investigating the accident.
