LOWELL, Mich. (WZZM) -- Friday night's high school football game is more about the message than it is the actual matchup. Lowell will face off against Chicago Hubbard High School, but it won't be the Red Arrows taking the field.

Lowell High School is going pink for the sixth year.

The Pink Arrow Project is a cause that the entire city gets involved in. The idea is to raise money to fight cancer and over its six year history, the school and the city have succeeded.

Lowell High School's other sports teams are included in what's been dubbed 'Pink Arrow Six.' The soccer team had a match Friday afternoon, followed by an outdoor volleyball game in the stadium.

And over the past few weeks, shirts have been for sale, there was also a blood drive and organ donation registration.

The money raised through the Pink Arrow Project has many uses; some is given to Gilda's Club in Lowell, some goes to families in Lowell dealing with cancer, and a portion is put towards college scholarships.

The Pink Arrow game starts at 7 p.m. at Lowell High School.
