Detroit, Mich. (WZZM) Authorities in the City of Detroit are trying to find the person or people responsible for skinning a dog alive.
The dog, named Patty, was found Thursday afternoon roaming a neighborhood in southwest Detroit. She is described as a Rat Terrier mix.
Authorities say someone skinned her hair from the back of her neck to her ears. She is recovering at the Emergency Veterinarian Hospital in Ann Arbor. Doctors were able to reattach some of her fur.
A resident called authorities after seeing the bleeding dog wandering the streets. According to the dog rescue organization, Providing for Paws, the cuts were deliberate.
Authorities are offering a $1,000 reward to help find the person responsible. Anyone with information can call 734-765-8989.
