GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- If you're a hot sleeper, get night sweats, or just prefer the cold side of your pillow, the Chillow claims it can keep your pillow cool and dry all night long. The makers say the secret is its water-cooled memory foam.

WZZM 13's Lauren Stanton took the product to Marie Bolen, who says she's a "pillow flipping fool." Marie says she wakes up all the time and flips her pillow because she's so hot.

Marie went over the instructions and found them surprising. You fill the Chillow with seven to eight cups of warm water, remove any air bubbles, then let the Chillow sit flat for four hours before use.

The Chillow can either go inside your pillow case or on top of your pillow. Marie found it did feel cool to the touch. The instructions also say to put it in your refrigerator for 15-30 minutes if you want it extra cool, but never put it in the freezer. Marie felt like it was cool enough.

Marie used it for a week and admittedly, it stayed cool for the most part, all night. Marie would find herself moving to the cooler outer edge of the Chillow, but didn't have to flip her pillow anymore.

The problem was, the Chillow ended up sliding down her pillow in the middle of the night and bunching up at the bottom of her pillow case. She said it became uncomfortable and you lose the flexibility of your pillow because you can't move it around too much with the Chillow pack inside. Because of this, Marie says she would not buy the Chillow.

Bottom line, the water-cooled memory foam seems to do its job staying cold; it just needs a better design for all night sleeping. The Chillow pillow stays chill, but you may lose some of the comfort.

The Chillow is available online for $12.99 plus shipping and processing costs.
