GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - The cost for health insurance may be higher this year.
Researchers from Grand Valley State University have released a report that says many West Michigan companies are passing rising health care costs from the Affordable Care Act, to their employees.
The report surveyed companies from Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon and Allegan counties. The report says 48% of companies have passed additional costs to their workers and 40% are considering that option.
The report also took a look at other health related issues. It found that 10% of West Michigan residents are diabetic and although schools in West Michigan are generating 745 new registered nurses annually, it still falls short of the annual demand for nurses by more than 100.
