(WZZM) Thyroid surgery has always left a little half-moon scar on the patients neck, but new surgical options change that.

Dr. Michael Singer of the Henry Ford Hospital says, "What's different about endoscopic versus say minimally invasive is again just the use of that camera has allowed us to make things even smaller and do even less dissection that with minimally invasive thyroid surgery, certainly against conventional thyroidectomy."

Robotic facelift thyroid surgery allows doctors to access the thyroid from behind the ear.

Doctors say it's important to choose an option based on a patient's needs. For instance, if a growth is making it hard to breathe or eat.
