RIVERTON TWP., Mich. (Ludington Daily News) - Detectives from the Mason County Sheriff's Office are investigating bones found in the area of Morton and Chauvez roads.
Sheriff Kim Cole announced the investigation Friday afternoon, saying it was a suspicious situation.
Cole said the bones had no tissue attached and had not yet been positively identified as human or animal. He noted Friday night that the bones did not include anything that was conclusively human in appearance and Mason County Medical Examiner Marc Keen suggested sending them out for study by an anthropologist.
