MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) -- You may have just turned your furnace on for the first time this fall. It's something a lakeshore woman wants to do but can't.

So she called WZZM 13 On Your Side for help.

Christine Ward wants to use the new furnace she partially paid for. She put down $1,000 with a balance due of $1,000 when the job was completed. That is the deal Ward struck with K&B Heating of Muskegon. It was the lowest bid Ward received on the furnace job.

"He never came back to do the job. Never brought the furnace," said Ward. "When you are poor you have to go for the cheaper one and that is why people get took."

Ward's problem is three weeks old. This past Friday Brian Suffel with K&B Heating brought the furnace and duct work to her home. Ward says Suffel promised to return and finish the job but didn't.

"I called him two times yesterday and he never answered the phone," said Ward.

Suffel also didn't answer phone calls from 13 On Your Side. But WZZM 13's Jon Mills found him the sidewalk just outside his home. He said he was too busy to talk and had jobs to get to.

Then he reconsidered.

"She's got the materials there, I just have not started the job," Suffel told WZZM 13. He says in his line of work, this time of year is busy. And his agreement with Ward didn't include parameters on when the job would start.

Suffel says he gave Ward a discounted because she is a friend of a friend. "She is getting a sweet deal."

And as long as two specialty parts he ordered arrive, the install could get back on track soon. If Ward even wants him to finish it.

"I am going to leave it up to her and see what she wants to do. I will do it or I will just call it a day," said Suffel.
