GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- A record crowd came out to witness the Griffins win game three of the Calder Cup Finals.

The Griffins beat the Syracuse Crunch 4-2.

Wednesday night's game was the largest crowd in the Griffin's American Hockey League playoff history. Tickets totalled 10,102, still short of Van Andel Arena's capacity of 10,834 seats. However, that record was broken before it was set, because Friday's game four is sold out.

Fans say the nearly packed arena made the atmosphere even more exciting.

"It was neck and neck we were done early especially after that controversial goal with the hit and everything. So to see us rally at the end that was awesome," said Jason and Amy Kenyon.

"It was more packed than we had ever seen at Van Andel Arena, it was incredible," said Brent Zinn and Tyler Dykstra.

"We're taking it home in game 4, we're not hoping, we're expecting," Reed and Josh Nicholson.
