WZZM 13, the Gannett owned ABC affiliate, in Grand Rapids, Michigan is seeking an innovative, motivated and creative individual to be our Social Media Specialist (SMS).  Successful candidate must be passionate about social media and should be an adept social media producer.

The SMS will work with the WZZM 13 News (Information Center), Marketing, Community, Programming, and Sales departments to create content, engagement, and promotion within the social media space and online.

We are looking for an experienced social media content producer.  The successful candidate should have an ability to break away from the expected and create memorable programming, content and engagement for all social platforms.  You must be able to represent WZZM 13 in the social media space and anticipate user needs through a variety of content channels.

To be successful, you must have a strong understanding and demonstrated proficiency in writing, mobile platforms, search technology and social media production, in addition to understanding over-the-air and digital news platforms.  You must be highly proficient in using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and mobile technologies, and the tools to monitor the metrics.  You must understand social audience consumption and platform habits and practices.  Successful candidate should be able to demonstrate past experience in developing effective social media strategies.

You must have the ability to work across departments.  Outstanding written and oral communication skills are a must.  Knowledge of West Michigan is helpful in this position.  We put a premium on personal integrity, teamwork, accountability, problem solving, strong work ethic and commitment to our brand and products.

Qualifications

·         A bachelor's degree.

·         Two to five years experience in social media.

·         Two to five years experience in working as a journalist is a plus.

·         Strong leadership, writing and organizational skills.

·         Experience in PowerPoint, Excel, photoshop, basic HTML and Omniture are a plus.
