CASTLETON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- A Barry County woman is facing animal abuse and neglect charges for mistreating horses and cats on her property.

Marl Steinbach, 64, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of animal cruelty.  A judge set her bond at $1,000.

Animal Control officers began investigating Steinbach on August 22.  At the end of their investigation, the officers executed a search warrant on her property on Morgan Road in Castleton Township and seized seven horses and 17 cats and kittens.

WZZM 13 News contacted the Barry County Sheriff's Department Thursday for more information about the case, but the investigators involved were not available.  We have also left messages for the Barry County Prosecutor.

We are following developments in this case.  We will have updates online and on later editions of WZZM 13 News.
