(WZZM)- Robin Roberts' mother passed away yesterday, just hours after Roberts said goodbye on Good Morning America, before her medical leave.
The GMA host rushed home to Isaac-stricken Mississippi through flooded and blocked roads in order to see her mother, Lucimarian Tolliver Roberts. Robin Roberts made it just in time to say goodbye.
Lucimarin Tolliver Roberts was the first African American to head Mississippi's board of education.
She was known to love music and the written word.
Lucimarin and Robin Roberts collaborated on a book titled, "My Story, My Song."
Lucimarin Tolliver Roberts was 88 years old.
Robin Roberts faces her own health concerns. She is preparing for a bone marrow transplant, from her sister Sally Ann. Robin Roberts last day on GMA before her medial leave was supposed to be Friday. But, she left a day early to be with her mother.
