Often with annuals Rick says it's a good idea to chop back the blooms. By doing this, you will rejuvenate the old spent flowers and give them new life in August and September. Then Rick says you should add a water soluble fertilizer to the plants.  They'll look a little rough at first, but overall it will make them last much longer and look much better.
