Watch Flat Stanley travel the world one envelope at a time

Stanley Lambchop wanted a life filled with adventure.   After a collision with a bulletin board made him flat, Stanley's wish came true.   Flat Stanley-The Musical is based on the beloved classic children's book: Flat Stanley written by Jeff Brown.  The Grand Rapids Civic Theatre will bring this favored story to life October 19-28.

"Anyone who knows the story will enjoy our concept of creating a truly FLAT Stanley", stated Director Bruce Tinker.  "Kathy Johnson and Bob Fowle have worked to create a magical suit that will maintain the illusion of flatness."  Tinker also stated, "This children's musical is perfect for younger elementary audience members; the music is delightful, the story is a classic and the length of the show (1 hour) is just right"

In addition to the book, many may know of Flat Stanley because a child has asked that a paper cutout of Stanley be photographed while on family vacation.   The Flat Stanley Project began in 1995 as a way of teaching letter writing skills and geography to school children.   The project continues today and the Civic Theatre is collecting photos of Flat Stanley's travels for display on the Theatre's windows.  Photos are accepted by mail or  Facebook :   OR  (
