"The Long Voyage Home" (1940) directed by John Ford, with John Wayne and Thomas Mitchell. This film is based on three short plays about men at sea by playwright Eugene O'Neill and is one of the best and least known films of actor John Wayne. John Ford directed this beautifully photographed tale that also stars Barry Fitzgerald and Ian Hunter. It was nominated for six Academy Awards

"Beat the Devil" (1953) directed by John Huston, with Humphrey Bogart and Jennifer Jones. This is an odd ball film if there ever was one beginning with the cast which is made up of Humphrey Bogart, Jennifer Jones, Peter Lorre, Robert Morley and Italian sex pot Gina Lollobrigida. This story of con men in Africa was directed by John Huston and written by none other than Truman Capote. This is not a great film but it is a strange one.

"Two-Lane Blacktop" (1271) directed by Monte Hellman, with James Taylor and Dennis Wilson. Beach Boy Dennis Wilson teams up with musician James Taylor  to play two men who are involved in a cross country race with a man played by Warren Oates. Be assured that this is not a "Smoky and the Bandit" kind of film but a more serious look at the culture of cars in America.
