Early Learning Neighborhood Collaborative Celebrates opening of Pre-School Classroom at South End Community Outreach Ministries (SECOM)
Ribbon cutting Ceremony to be held 8:30 am on Monday, January 7, 2013 at SECOM- 1545 Buchanan Ave SW.
Grand Rapids, MI January 3, 2013 -On Monday, January 7, 2013, Early Learning Neighborhood Collaborative (ELNC), along with their partners, will officially welcome children and parents on their first day of Pre-School in their newly remodeled classroom. In 2011, ELNC, a non-profit organization, received a $5 Million grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to be administered over four years for the purpose of increasing the number of children living within the ELNC Targeted Neighborhoods demonstrating readiness for kindergarten by providing resources and technical assistance to ELNC Partners enabling them to increase existing and or create new capacity of Quality Early Care & Education (ECE) Programs intentionally designed and located within the ELNC Target Neighborhoods.
With the addition of the SECOM Pre-School classroom, ELNC is currently providing financial resources for 110 children to attend quality pre-school programs. Plans are underway to more than double this number by fall.
With these efforts our vision of a community where all children, regardless of the neighborhood in which they live, are able to thrive developmentally and educationally allowing them to fully embrace their God given potential and become self-sufficient adults becomes one step closer.
ELNC welcomes community involvement-
