"Freshly Framed!" Art Reception Scheduled for October 5 During Harvest Festival
Rockford, Michigan -- A new art event is coming to Rockford, The "Freshly Framed!" Art Reception will take place on October 5th during Harvest Festival. Artists have been invited from all over western and northern Michigan to arrive at 9 am that day, set up field easels and create original works of art....paintings, drawings, pastels, and other types of portable mediums.
At 2 pm, these artists will report in to frame their newly created work and display it on easels for the art reception and sale, which is open to the public, held between 3 and 5 pm.
This new event is being hosted by the Rogue River Artists Association in collaboration with the Rockford Area Arts Commission, Thought Design and Reds on the River. The "Freshly Framed!" Art Reception will be held at Thought Design, 8 South Bridge Street, with artwork displayed on their boardwalk and patio area along the Rogue River. Live classical guitar music will accompany the outdoor exhibit.
Inside, Thought Design owner Denise VanEck will be offering free seasonal food samples and light beverages to everyone attending the reception.
Reds on the River is sponsoring a wine-tasting which will also take place inside the Thought Design venue. Reds General Manager Kristin Kent arranged for the POUR Beverage Catering Company to provide professional services for this portion of the event.
"We're thrilled about having this event added to our annual Harvest Festival celebration," said Jeannie Gregory, Executive Director of the Rockford Chamber of Commerce. "It makes a wonderful addition to all the other festivities going on in Rockford that day."
"Freshly Framed!" Art Reception organizers Patti Mollema, Chris VanderHart and Linda Humbert hope to have over 25 artists working in Rockford that day, along the banks of the Rogue River, in the downtown area and in nearby scenic spots. According to Mollema, "The Thought Design venue is a perfect spot for the public reception and exhibition. Their boardwalk and patio is one of the most beautiful places along the river." Artist registration information can be found on the Rogue River Artists Association website: www.rogueriverartists.org
Rockford is fast becoming an arts destination according to Linda Humbert, Vice Chair of the Rockford Area Arts Commission. Humbert said, "This new outdoor event is due to the success of the Rogue River Artists weekly outdoor sessions "en plein air" (which is French for "in the open air)." These weekly outings, which have grown tremendously since beginning just one month ago, now offer a voluntary opportunity for instructional workshops as well as providing a welcoming weekly schedule to simply join with other artists and work outdoors. Information on the "Freshly Framed!" Art Reception, the weekly sessions and workshops is available on the website: www.rogueriverartists.org
