December 2012 gas price at a station in Caledonia Township

CALEDONIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- The price of regular gas in West Michigan hit a new low Wednesday.

Drivers were filling up for $2.96 a gallon in Caledonia Township. Some area stations were even a few cents less per gallon.

Patrick DeHaan with says these are the lowest prices we've seen since February 2011. He says prices are sliding because the gas supply is higher.

Don't expect the deals to last long, though. DeHaan expects gas prices to rebound to $3.20 or $3.30 a gallon within the next 48 hours.
