GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Three West Michigan employers will be honored today for helping women achieve success in the workplace.

This is the 24th year the Women's Resource Center of Grand Rapids has held The Huntington Pillar Awards. Past recipients include Aquinas College, Herman Miller and Grand Valley State University. These are companies and organizations with a proven record of advancing women and promoting diversity in the workplace.

Thursday, The Women's Resource Center, celebrating its 40th year, will honor three more local employers during a luncheon ceremony.

"We are very excited and we have the founders, the women who actually started the women's resource center and it was nothing like it is today," said Linda Dietrich, with the center.

The 2013 Pillar Award winners are:

Express Employment Professionals, a private full-service staffing agency in Grand Rapids that provides job placement, testing and training programs.

Porter Hills Retirement Communities, also in Grand Rapids. Porter Hills was recently named one of the best and brightest companies to work for in West Michigan by the Michigan Business and Professional Association. It offers senior living resources such as assisted living, memory support and skilled nursing.

A unique employer-led re-entry initiative called 30-2-2 will also receive an award this year. 30-2-2 is a local initiative with the goal of matching 30 employers to 2 ex-offenders and helps train and monitor them for 2 years so they can become positive members of the workforce.

The Huntington Award luncheon is today at the Amway Grand. The Women's Resource Center is expecting about 500 people to attend the event which is its biggest fundraiser of the year.
