(DETROIT FREE PRESS) - Grand Rapids was ranked fourth nationally in a ranking for the best cities to find jobs.

The human resources firm Adecco Staffing U.S. studied jobs datafrom the U.S. Department of Labor, trends in job growth, cost of living, types and size of industries, and education, according to Forbes magazine.

Grand Rapids had a unemployment rate of 6.6% in February, lower than the state average of 8.8%.

The top industries hiring in Grand Rapids are health care, financialservices, skilled labor, education, IT, and engineering

The skills and jobs in demand in the western Michigan city are information specialists, manufacturing, administrative and skilled laborers.

The top cities in the Adecco study were Bethesda, Md., Austin, Texas; and Jacksonville, Fla.

Other cities may have lower unemployment rates, but may not have diverse industries, or a higher cost of living and the required skills can be too specific, Forbes said.
