Five Value City stores in Michigan will close in the next two months and liquidation sales are underway.
The stores are located in Warren, Roseville, Livonia, Saginaw and Wyoming, said spokeswoman Kristen Mack Deuber.
The department store chain will still operate stores in Flint, Westland and Taylor. The cuts are part of chainwide closures of 37 stores, Deuber said. About 389 employees in Michigan will be let go after the stores close here.
Value City was sold last month to VCHI Acquisition Co. and the closings are part of the new owner's desire to “return to Value City's roots as an off-price retailer,” Deuber said.
