(WZZM) - The University of Michigan is expanding its research into juvenile diabetes by taking some of the work online.
People with a family history of type one diabetes can take part in the online screening which identifies people who may qualify for studies at the university or other sites.
The online screening begins with a questionnaire.
If a volunteer is eligible, they will get a kit in the mail and be directed to a local lab to do a blood test.
People with antibodies associated with a risk of type one diabetes could then be invited to join a study aimed at preventing or delaying the disease.
Out of every 100 people tested, only three or four have those antibodies.
