(WZZM) Rockford, Mich- Did you know that 80% of strokes are preventable? Most often a stroke occurs when blood can't get to the brain because it is blocked by a clot.

There are different types of stroke, but symptoms are similar, like numbness or weakness of the one side of the face or body and if anything like this occurs, it's vital to call 9-1-1 as quickly as possible.

Knowing the signs of stroke is important. For more information on stroke symptoms, causes, and what to do click here.

As part of national stroke awareness month, Value Health Partners held a student contest to come up with a video about stroke awareness.

The winners of the contest are two Rockford High School students, Allison Richenbach and Baylie Rajter. To see their video click here.
