Michigan Blood: Be A Star Donor Campaign

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- For her 100th birthday, a Grand Rapids woman wants to see others donate blood.

Anne Wepman has volunteered with Michigan Blood since 1970. Every Monday, she serves cookies and juice to the people who donate. Many blood donors come back every Monday between noon and 4 p.m. just so they can visit with Anne.

And even though she's 100, Anne makes sure her donors stick around. "Oh no, they have to sit there for 15 minutes before I sign them out, and they're willing to do that-- they love the cookies and their coffee and it's just a pleasant time," said Wepman.

Anne turned 100 years old last Thursday. Monday was Anne Wepman Day at Michigan Blood's donation center on Fuller in Grand Rapids, where she served birthday cake to the donors.
