Grand Rapids (WZZM) - February is American Heart Month, a time to raise awareness about heart disease and stroke.

Women are most at risk for heart disease. In fact, it is the number one killer of women causing one in three deaths every year.

Right now, more than 42 million women are living with some form of cardiovascular disease and nearly three million women have a history of heart attack.

This month, the American Heart Association wants you to Go Red for Women and to do that, we hosted a Go Red Fashion Show today with the health of Macy's.

Our models are Madelyn Mazzone-Wong, who survived a stroke in 2006 and Jennifer Denboer, who survived a sudden heart attack in 2013.

Friday, February 7th is National Wear Red Day. The American Heart Association urges you to wear red that day to support Go Red for Women. It's the movement to save women's lives and wipe out heart disease.

Later this month, the Association will host its annual Go Red for Women Luncheon.

It is Thursday, February 27th at the Prince Conference Center at Calvin College in Grand Rapids.

The luncheon begins at ten in the morning and raises money for research and education of heart disease in women.
