INVITE US TO SPEAK or VISIT US FOR A TOUR
Not only can you count on the WZZM 13 On Target forecasts, you can bet that just about on any given school day, one of the WZZM 13 meteorologists is in a West Michigan classroom sharing his or her knowledge about the weather or giving a tour of the WZZM 13 Weather Center.
"It's a neat part of our job," says Joe Kopecek. "It's an enjoyable, educational way to give something back to the community that supports us."
All our meteorologists, George Lessens, Joe Kopecek, and Aaron Ofseyer entertain and inform their audiences about the science of weather with a behind-the-scenes look at television weathercasting.
Elementary school-aged children are, by far, the biggest part of their audiences. "Sometimes we do get invited to high schools and colleges in the area, wanting us to share our knowledge of the television aspect of meteorology," added George Lessens. "There's nothing like getting other people as excited about your job as you do."
The 13 Kid Kam accompanies each meteorologist when they visit a classroom to record his or her weather presentation which is then usually broadcast later that same day during one of the weathercasts and on our web site.
If your school or organization would like a tour of the WZZM 13 studios call (616) 785-1313 and ask for the Station Tour Coordinator.
If you would like George, Joe, or Aaron to visit your classroom (third grade and up, please) call them in the 13 Weather Center at (616) 785-1313, ext. 471.
