MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) - A Muskegon judge exceeded sentencing guidelines this morning to punish an animal abuser.
Last October, Timothy Cregg beat his puppy with a hammer and threw the injured dog in a trash bin. The puppy was euthanized because of the injuries.
Cregg said he hurt his dog because it ruined his comforter.
He pleaded guilty to animal cruelty last month and Monday morning was sentenced to 221 days in jail with five years probation.
He was sentenced to time served, may not have pets of any kind and could have unannounced visits by mental health professionals.
