MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WZZM) -- It was a night of nail biting for the state house race in Muskegon County.
Incumbent Holly Hughes, for the Republican Party ran her campaign with an emphasis on jobs and worked to get grants for area companies to expand.
Her competitor Colleen Lamonte focused her campaign on the middle class and making education stronger.
With all precincts reporting, Lamonte has emerged victorious by winning with just 333 more votes than Hughes, 19,256 to 18,923. Nick Sundquist received 1,853 votes.
