MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WZZM) - The vote against Proposal One is leaving some unanswered questions for Muskegon Heights Schools.
An emergency manager currently oversees the Muskegon Heights School District.
However, Tuesday night voters rejected Proposal One, which would have allowed the state to continue appointing managers to financially struggling local governments or schools.
One of the newly appointed school board members says it's unclear how the vote could impact the changes already in place at the district.
"If it is something that goes to the courts and it's determined that it's not going to hold fort, what does that mean for the Muskegon Heights Public School and the school board that was existing at that time?" says Darryl Todd, Board member for Muskegon Heights Public School Academy.
WZZM 13 tried to contact Emergency Manager Don Weatherspoon but he was unreachable.
