WALKER, Mich. (WZZM) -- The shopping deals at Meijer started well before families sat down for Thanksgiving dinner.
The chain was the first in the area to start rolling out sales for Black Thursday, at 6 a.m. Electronics were a big draw. At the Meijer on Alpine Avenue NW, people stood in line for a few hours for the Xbox 360, and the Kindle Fire sold out right away.
Meijer Store Director Larry Levin says the retailer put a variety of products on sale for Thursday only, including more clothing than last year.
Diane Meerman of Coopersville arrived just after 6 a.m. to buy two iPads.
"It beats worrying all day about whether I'm going to have to stand in line tonight at a different store and not get one, so it worked out perfect," says Meerman.
There was still a good selection of iPads left in the store at 10 a.m. Meijer will offer Black Friday and Saturday sales as well.
