(USA TODAY) - Yahoo delivered a significant redesign of its email service earlier today, with a cleaner interface and "fewer distractions."
Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer announced the email update on the company's blog. "We're committed to making Yahoo Mail everything you want and more, and this is just the beginning," Mayer said in a blog post.
The new Yahoo Mail will be available on web, Windows 8, Android, iPhone and iPod Touch. The redesigned mail client has a more consistent look across all devices.
Users will be phased into the new Yahoo Mail "over the next few days," Mayer wrote.
Yahoo claims it is the No. 1 email service in the United States, ahead of Google's Gmail and Hotmail/Outlook, according to The Next Web.
