GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Starting today, many customers who subscribe to Comcast Cable for their television service will need a new digital set-top box.
The company says the change will allow it to provide more programming choices and faster internet service. If you do not have one installed, you may not receive any television channels, depending on your cable package. Televisions that have an internal digital converter are also affected by the change.
Late last year, the Federal Communications Commission approved a rule change allowing cable companies to require the new cable boxes. Comcast charges $10.00 for every television in the house. The only exception is those customers who receive the very basic cable package.
