GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Subway has partnered with the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Tigers Foundation to create the "Stand Tall with the Tigers" video, essay, and poster competition.

Their goal is to help keep every student safe in schools, and give everyone an equal chance to succeed.

They are also working with the Michigan State Police to help get their message out to students.

"Standing Tall" as a person means having the courage to stand up for yourself or what you believe in. It also means standing up for other people if they are being bullied or treated unfairly.

In an essay, poster or video, students are asked to describe an occasion when they have stood up for themselves, something they believe in, or for someone who needed help, even if it wasn't popular.

The contest winner will recieve a $1,000 educational grant for their school, and $500 in Subway cash cards for themselves.

The competition runs through October 31.

Students can pick up an entry form at their local Subway, or visit standtallcontest.com.
