GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- A U.S. Bankruptcy courtroom was filled with angry people Wednesday. They're angry with Tim and Karina Stanton, owners of D&D Roofing Co. and Snowplowing Service.

In August, about 70 families received notices from D&D urging them to take advantage of early bird discounts for snowplowing services. In September families sent the Stantons their checks, but in October the Stantons filed for Chapter 7 personal bankruptcy.

"An attorney had to be contacted long before that because things don't happen in two or three days. Somebody had to know in advance that they were going to file and they still cashed checks. They should have been sent back, that's wrong purely wrong," said Dennis Post of Wyoming, one of the Stanton's customers.

Attorney Rob Wardrop said the Stantons are attempting to find another snowplow contractor to fulfill the contracts signed with customers.
