DTE accidently shut off the gas to the home of Andrew Dobson and his girlfriend Alexandra Milanowski
ALLENDALE, Mich. (WZZM) -- DTE is telling an Allendale couple they are sorry for the mistake, but they can't turn the gas back on in time to cook Thanksgiving dinner. And the couple has nearly two dozen guests coming and expecting a holiday feast.
DTE got Andrew Dobson mixed up with another customer who called to shut off his gas service. As a result, it will be Thursday afternoon at the earliest before Andrew and his girlfriend get their gas turned back on.
He says that will be too late for them to prepare and host Thanksgiving dinner for family and friends. "This is our first Thanksgiving-- a lot to be thankful for sure and I really just wanted to cook all of us be together."
As of 8 p.m. Wednesday, the thermostat in their Allendale home was 58 degrees. Dobson says his girlfriend, Alexandra Milanowski discovered the problem. "I tried starting up the stove and there was no gas."
They immediately contacted DTE to find out what the problem was. "My full name is Andrew S. Dobson. Apparently somewhere out there, there is an Andrew K. Dobson. Andrew K. Dobson called DTE and asked to shut off his service, so they came here and they shut off my service."
DTE told Dobson and Milanowski it was a clerical mistake and that problem would be fixed. However, due to the holiday utility officials say it won't happen until late Thursday at the earliest.
WZZM 13 attempted to call DTE but we did not receive a call back.
