Jeff Zimmerman discusses his ArtPrize entry with WZZM 13 News.
GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)- A Grand Rapids art school is becoming a larger than life sized canvas for ArtPrize.
Kendall College is turning the back of its seven-story building into a contemporary mural. You can already see some of the images being painted.
Chicago native, Jeff Zimmerman is using a scaffold to put together the piece for ArtPrize. While faculty say they're excited to see color outside the classroom, Zimmerman hopes to get the entire community thinking about art.
Kendall College teacher Tom Edwards says, "The scale of it is really incredible and it's something we'll be able to keep well after ArtPrize is over so I'm really excited about it."
Artist, Jeff Zimmermann, "It makes people think, hopefully it makes people talk. That's the most important thing for me is that people see the work and interact with each other and it creates a dialogue."
Zimmerman's mural is located on Pearl Street and Division Avenue. ArtPrize begins September 22nd and will wrap up October 10th.
