WYOMING, Mich. (WZZM)- A Wyoming hospital is now sending home newborns with a little something extra to keep them safe.  Metro Health Hospital is wrapping infants in their own version of a Snuggie, called a Sleep Sack.

The inside is of each Sleep Sack is embroidered with the phrase "back is best" to remind parents to put their babies on their backs for naptime - reducing the risk of sudden infant death syndrome.

Nurse Tracia Nordquist says, "It's safest to keep them on their backs so that they don't roll on their sides and prevent any blankets or pillows from suffocation."

Nordquist says, "Everyone seems to love them [the sleep sacks]. I love holding the babies because they're so soft."

New mother Kylia Slagter says, "They are very soft and comfortable, and she obviously loves hers."

The sleep sacks were paid for by the Metro Health Hospital Foundation.
