Iowa man killed in Montcalm crash

MONTCALM COUNTY, Mich. (WZZM) - A 72-year-old Iowa man is dead after a possible drunk driving crash Sunday afternoon.

The crash happened at the corner of South Sheridan Road and Sessions Road Sunday afternoon at about 5:30pm.

Montcalm County Sheriff's deputies say that a 1995 Chevy Blazer, driven by a 34-year-old Sheridan man ran through the stop sign at the intersection and hit a 1997 Chevy Astro Van, driven by the Iowa man.  Both drivers were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from their vehicles.  The Iowa man was pronounced dead at the scene.  The Sheridan man was takent to Sheridan Community Hospital and later taken by AeroMed to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.  His condition is not known.

M-66 was closed for several hours while deputies investigated the crash.  Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. 

The crash is still under investigation.
