Grand Rapids - Michigan's troubled economy is showing signs of bouncing back. The latest manpower employment survey indicates a positive job outlook, particularly in West Michigan. In Grand Rapids, 20 percent of the companies surveyed say they plan to hire more employees in the second quarter. The news is even better in the Muskegon area, where 30 percent of companies plan on increasing their workforce. In Holland, a 28 percent increase in hiring is expected. Statewide, employers are expecting a 22 percent net increase. The survey indicates that job prospects appear to be best in construction, manufacturing, retail, public administration, and finance. The positive outlook for Michigan is also expected for the rest of the country.
